Rare vintage French Christofle Fermiers Généraux bottle coasters that commemorate the Fermiers Généraux (tax farmers general), a 17th and 18th century tax collecting organization charged with collecting duties on behalf of the King of France. The marks on these pieces are copies of the punches used by the Fermiers Généraux of the Ancient Régime to mark taxes paid. The set is from Christofle's line of cast Gallia metal and silver plated luxury goods. Sold as a set of two.

Christofle is a goldsmith and tableware company, founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle.  Since then, Christofle has specialized in tableware, flatware, and home accessories. They are also recognized for successfully reinvigorating the world of silverware long associated with a bourgeois lifestyle.
